Alarm Communication System Test

To help prevent false alarms, every system should be periodically tested for proper communication with the monitoring station. Listed below is the alarm communication testing procedure.

  • Call the monitoring station, The Security Center, #504-522-1254.
  • Identify yourself as a U.S.A. Fire & Burglar Alarm, LLC customer and provide the operator with your name and street address of the property you are testing.
  • Inform the operator that you wish to test your system.
  • The operator will ask for your password and how long you would like to place the system on test. The test should take no longer than 15 minutes, and a system can be placed on test no longer than 24 hours.
  • Hang up with the operator.
  • Enter your four digit code to arm your system.
  • Open a door or window that does not have a delay. Allow your system to go off and sirens to sound for at least 60 seconds before disarming.
  • Because your system is in test mode, the monitoring station will not call you.
  • After the 60 seconds, disarm your system.
  • Call the monitoring station and identify yourself as you did when you put the system on test.
  • Ask the operator if they received the test signal.
  • If the test signal went through, the alarm system is communicating properly.
  • If the test signal did not go through, call U.S.A. Fire & Burglar Alarm, LLC Service Department at (504) 733-8040 during normal business hours, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, to schedule a service call.
  • Before hanging up with the operator, make sure they take the system out of test.
